Short answer

Yes. Weight loss depends on a consistent calorie deficit, not on banning one food. Rice becomes a problem when the portion is large and the meal has little protein or fibre.

What works better

  • Keep rice measured, usually one small cooked cup for many adults.
  • Add visible protein: egg, fish, chicken, dal, paneer, curd or chana.
  • Fill half the plate with vegetables.
  • Walk 10 to 15 minutes after lunch or dinner when possible.

JoFitness Nutrition note

In Kerala and many Indian homes, rice is part of family eating. A plan that removes it completely often fails after a few weeks. JoFitness Nutrition usually rebuilds the plate first, then adjusts rice quantity based on hunger, activity, sleep and progress.

This is general guidance, not a personal prescription.
