Drinks recipe
Cucumber mint lemon detox water
A fresh cucumber, mint, lemon and ginger infused water for people who struggle to drink enough water. Light, cooling and easy to keep in the fridge.
Method
Cook flow
- 1
Wash the cucumber, lemon, mint and ginger well.
- 2
Add cucumber slices, lemon slices, mint leaves and ginger to a clean glass bottle or jug.
- 3
Pour in chilled water. Press the mint gently with a spoon once, just enough to release aroma.
- 4
Keep covered in the fridge for 30 minutes before drinking.
- 5
Refill the bottle once more on the same day if the flavour is still fresh.
- 6
Discard the slices after 24 hours and make a fresh batch.
Keep it lighter
Flavour without calorie creep
- Keep it unsweetened. Honey, sugar or syrup changes it from infused water into a sweet drink.
- Use citrus, mint and ginger for flavour intensity rather than fruit juice.
- Treat it as hydration support, not a meal replacement; skipping meals often leads to rebound snacking.
A realistic note about detox drinks
Your liver and kidneys do the actual detox work. This drink does not melt fat, flush sugar, or replace a proper meal plan. What it can do is simpler and still useful: make water taste fresh enough that you drink more of it.
That matters because poor hydration often shows up as headaches, constipation, unnecessary snacking, low energy and cravings for sweet drinks.
When we suggest this at JoFitness
We use drinks like this as habit support, especially for clients who dislike plain water or keep reaching for packaged juices and sweet tea. It can be a good summer option, a post-walk drink, or something to keep on the office desk.
It may fit:
- Weight management routines as a low-calorie replacement for sweet drinks.
- Gut-health plans when hydration and regular bowel movements are priorities.
- Busy office schedules where people forget to drink water.
- Family meal habits as a simple fridge drink without added sugar.
What not to do
Do not use this as a meal replacement. Do not add honey or sugar if your goal is weight loss or blood sugar control. If you have acidity, reduce the lemon and ginger, or drink plain cucumber mint water instead.
Make it taste better
Use cold water, fresh mint and thin lemon slices. If the lemon peel makes it bitter, remove the slices after 30 minutes and keep only the cucumber and mint in the bottle.
